Fontarrabie (Hondarribia in Basque) is not only one of the most picturesque villages in the Basque Country<\/a>, but also boasts many fine restaurants and bars<\/strong>. <\/a>This small fishing village, located just opposite Hendaye on the Spanish side of the Bidassoa, takes you back in time.<\/p>\n\n\n

Getting there couldn’t be easier: take the maritime shuttle <\/strong>from theHendaye<\/a> marina and enjoy a pleasant 15-minute crossing of the estuary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pass through the Porte de Santa Maria<\/strong> into Calle Mayor<\/strong>, one of the city’s busiest streets, with its arcades and 17th-century stately palaces. The fortified Alde Zaharra district invites you to stroll along its cobbled streets lined with historic buildings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
